Dr. Abhirami Vivekanandarajah

Abhirami Vivekanandarajah, MD, is a board-certified hematologist-oncologist with more than six years of experience practicing exclusively in Staten Island. She provides individualized, compassionate hematology and cancer care to patients in the Staten Island community.

Dr. Vivekanandarajah has experience treating a wide range of solid tumors such as lung cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, melanoma, and gastrointestinal cancers. She also has experience treating hematological malignancies such as Multiple Myeloma, Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, Chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and Myelodysplastic syndrome. Additionally, she has experience evaluating and treating benign hematologic disorders such as anemia, hypercoagulable states, and bleeding disorders.

Dr. Vivekanandarajah earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology at the University of Toronto, followed by a medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine, serving as Chief Resident and her fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at Staten Island University Hospital, where she also served as Chief Fellow.

She has extensive research experience and has published in several reputed hematology and oncology journals. In addition, she was awarded the Fellow physician research award for her excellence in research. Recently, she has also authored two book chapters in the Netter’s Integrated Review of Medicine.

Dr. Vivekanandarajah speaks English, Tamil, Hindi, and Urdu. She was previously a violin and vocal instructor and continues to teach students in her spare time. She also enjoys skiing, exercising, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
